Stress measurement in static granular pilings

In this talk we reviewed experiments as well as few simulations on the statics of granular materials. More precisely we were interested in (i) the average stress distribution below a pile of sand, (ii) the effective weight at the bottom of a column of grain, and (iii) the average stress profile at the bottom of a layer of grains in response to a localized overload at its top surface.
